Ahearn/Redick weekend locks
J.J. Redick. Arguably the best shooter in the history of basketball. When the ball was in his hands it was a guaranteed three.

Like Blake Ahearn from the free throw line or J.J. Redick from behind the arc, you know these picks are straight cash, homey.
Last weekend’s pick: “There’s virtually no reason that this prediction should be made. Pitt gets its first good win of the season, 72-66.”
Result: There really was no reason to make that pick, but it was the right one. Pittsburgh beat the Hoyas 72-60, which was a win that came out of nowhere.
2. BYU knocks off Saint Mary’s, but the Gaels get the last laugh and win the WCC
Last weekend’s pick: BYU beats Saint Mary’s, 81-76.
Result: Not quite on the money with this pick. BYU pretty much got ran out of their own stadium, losing big, 80-66.
3. Top teams continue to fall, and this week it’s…Kansas!
Last weekends pick: “This prediction might be a little bit irresponsible, but let me explain. Iowa State finishes what it started this time around and beats Kansas 76-73.”
Result: How Iowa State actually won this game is beyond me. This pick was indeed very irresponsible, but that is what college basketball is all about. The No. 5 team in the nation shouldn’t be losing to a bubble team, but this is college basketball, where literally anything can happen.
4. Towson loses.
Last weekend’s pick: “Just in case the other predictions don’t quite pan out, this will be the safety net. Never said the predictions had to be bold, folks.”
Result: This wasn’t even a pick, it was just stating a fact. Of course Towson loses! I wouldn’t want to be the guy who actually lost to the Tigers. Oops, sorry UNC-Wilmington.
Alright who’s ready for this week’s picks? Hopefully everyone because here they are.
1. The Florida Gators knock off the Vanderbilt Commodores and eventually clinch no worse than the No. 2 spot in the SEC.
This pick may not be very bold, but a lot of people still think the Commodores are no worse than the No.2 team in the SEC. Sorry folks, but that is the Gators position to lose, which they won’t. Florida is playing way too good of ball right now to lose to anyone in the SEC, that is of course until they play the No. 1 team in the land in the Kentucky Wildcats. Florida will have to absolutely be on its A game to have a chance in that one. The Gators have won six games in a row, all against SEC opponents. Florida has the 10th best scoring offense in the league and a lot of that can be credited to their three-point shooting.
Florida wins by the score of 75-64
2. Kansas Jayhawks show the Missouri Tigers why they are the Kansas Jayhawks.
No. 4 Missouri may be the higher ranked team in this game, but they’re still the Missouri Tigers. In the college basketball world that name means nothing. Not to mention, it doesn’t even come close to comparison with the Kansas Jayhawks.
Despite that, Missiouri has shown they’re vulnerable, losing to Oklahoma State on the road. If the Tigers want to be the best team in the Big 12 then they’re going to have to beat the best. If you look at the years that Kansas has won the conference, it looks like every single year is just being named off. That is how dominant of a team they are in college basketball.
However, Kansas will have to be able to stop one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league. Luckily for Missouri, they’ll be playing at home, but that won’t matter in this one.
Kansas wins by the score of 85-80.
3. The Boilermakers finally get a big win.
This may not be the biggest win in the world, but Purdue has practically beaten nobody in the Big Ten this year. By nobody I mean a team that is actually ranked. After this week, there’s probably no way that Indiana will be ranked, but they are right now, so that has to count for something if Purdue can pull off an upset.
Practically everyone has been beating up on the Hoosiers as of late. The Big Ten is a very tough conference and that has a lot to do with it, so what better of a time for Purdue to play Indiana, because if they did a month ago, the Boilermakers would’ve had no shot at winning.
Look for senior Robbie Hummel to have a monster game against Indiana. I mean he kind of has to since he’s really the only good player on the team.
Purdue wins 70-66

I agree with the Florida pick. Indiana will steal one on the road in West Lafayette, and Mizzou will extend its home winning streak. Hey, one out of three isn’t bad. In baseball.
What about Xavier vs. Memphis? I say X shocks the 18,000 faithful in the FedEx Forum – the backcourt is too much for the Tigers to contain.
